Do I need to know how to code?

If you use a blogging platform like WordPress (which I recommend everyone), you don’t need to know how to code at all. You can choose and install a theme of your choice and use the interface to customize your blog and have it look the way you want.

Optionally though, you might want to learn a bit of CSS to make minor design changes that your theme may not offer.

Should I Choose or

I wrote an article that explains the difference between and which you can read. To sum it up, you should always go with a self-hosted blog because it costs a third of the price and you have full access to the WordPress software. With, you only have limited access. How much does it cost to start a blog?

Using our guide, it’ll cost you only $62.40 for your first year of blogging. This pays for one year of hosting with Siteground (the #1 rated web host) and your domain name.

You shouldn’t worry about this cost because you’ll have many opportunities to make it all back. You can check out my make money online category to find out more about earning an online income.

Which web host should I go with and why?

Ever since I started using Siteground myself, I’ve only been recommending them to my readers and my clients. Siteground is just an all-in-one package that comes with super fast server speeds, excellent 24/7 customer support, amazing security, and a one-click install for WordPress.

Siteground costs $3.95 per month for your first 1 – 3 years (depending on what you choose to pay for up front). Read my Siteground review to find out more about why I think it’s the best web host for beginner bloggers.

What do I go if I need help?

The great thing about being a blogger is that there’s an endless source of people who are always willing to help you! Bloggers love supporting each other.

You can find and connect with other bloggers on social media platforms like Facebook Groups and Twitter.

Of course, you can always contact me as well if you have any questions or need assistance.

How much time do I need to commit to blogging?

This question is a little bit harder to answer because it’s actually entirely up to you and what your goals are. Ultimately, the more time you spend on writing articles and promoting your blog, the faster you’ll start to see success.

I know people who spend anywhere between 20 minutes – a few hours a day on their blogs. Personally, I spend a few hours a day because I try to push out articles frequently and reach out to as many people as I can.

Don’t hesitate! Start a blog today.

  1. Hi Stephen,

I like this post. It is concise and simple. Everybody should blog.

Starting a blog is easy. Anyone can do it. The skill comes in when you start to write.

But, you don’t need to be a Shakespeare. You will be writing for your audience and your audience will like you writing, whatever the style.

I agree, Steve. Even if someone isn’t very good at writing to begin with, being consistent with blogging will definitely help the individual improve 🙂
