To create your very own self-hosted WordPress blog, you’re going to need a few things: a domain name, web hosting, and a content management system. No idea what these are?
Here are some definitions:
A domain name – A domain name is the URL of your website (ie. www.aspiringbloggers.com). This is where your readers will visit to access your site.
Web hosting – A web host is a company that will host all of your blog’s files. After all, your blog has to be stored safely somewhere!
Content management system (CMS) – A CMS is a tool that you use to design your site and write your blog posts. It saves you from having to code your own site from scratch — something you likely don’t know how to do.
If you don’t have any of these yet, don’t worry! We’ll provide you with step-by-step instructions on how to set each of these up. But first, proceed to the first lesson to learn how to choose a blog niche.
